Dayton Area Backpackers & Hikers



Dayton, Ohio is blessed with an abundance of outdoor recreation minded people. The goal of the Dayton Area Backpackers & Hikers (www.DaytonHikers.Org) is to bring together those people who enjoy backpacking and hiking. You are welcome to join whether you are a beginner or an experienced outdoors person.

The Dayton area has an abundance of hiking trails. With our Five Rivers MetroPark system, State parks and community parks, there are many nearby opportunities for day hikes. A hiker can easily find an enjoyable hike whether it is a shorter, easy hike or a longer, more challenging hike.

The Dayton area is home to many people who enjoy backpacking. We are just a several hour drive from many spectacular backpacking areas. Are you interested in giving backpacking a try? Check us out! Are you an experienced backpacker looking for others who enjoy backpacking? Check us out! Our backpacking trips are mainly weekend or long weekend trips to backpacking trails in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, West Virginia and beyond.

Are you interested in organizing day hikes or backpacking trips? Please inquire about being an Assistant Organizer. We would love to have you lead some trips.



The Dayton Area Backpackers & Hikers group supports and promotes the Five Rivers MetroParks and Five Rivers Outdoors. Visit one of the many local Metroparks to see what it has to offer. Attend one of the Five Rivers Outdoors many events and workshops. Consider being a volunteer.
