This is a 30 mile hike along I-75 in Montgomery County. We will hike from the Miami County line south to the Warren County line along Interstate 75. The plan is to hike mostly in the grassy areas of the median. But there will be areas where we need to walk along the berm of the interstate. Wear bright colors for safety.

This hike begins at 2:00am. This time was selected because the traffic will be light and we can finish around sunrise. You should be able to finish this hike with ample time to get to your work place. The plan is be through the constructions zones before work starts for the day.

Meet at the Warren/Montgomery County line on I-75. We will take an RTA bus north to Miami County. Bring money for the bus fare.

We understand that some people who start this hike might not be able to finish it. If you can't complete the hike you have two options. You can complete the trek on a bicycle or in a canoe.

Those wishing to complete the trek on a bicycle will ride along the Great Miami River bikepath. Those wishing to complete the trek in a canoe will use the Great Miami River.

We have enlisted the help of the Tri-Sate Cycling Club and Tri-Sate Canoe Club to help us. The Tri-Sate Cycling Club and Tri-Sate Canoe Club will prove bicycles and canoes for our use and be stationed at various checkpoints along the way.

You must start this hike wearing a personal flotation device and a bicycle helmet just in case. No exceptions!

I'm so sorry I missed it! I'm still at the airport awaiting the arrival of my long lost uncle the Nigerian King. His flight was diverted to Frankfurt but he'll get off the ground as soon as I wire $2000. He was going to pick up the tab at Waffle House!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I will be at the Waffle House just after midnight. I think I will have a 3 egg omelet. The eggs should give me protein and energy for this hike.

At 1 AM the festivities will begin with two keggers at the county line. The Ohio Highway Patrol refuses to sweep plastic cups so please bring your own beer stein. Andy requests you dress in alps style with white shirt, suspenders and a plaid wool skirt or shorts. This will add a nice touch to the event. There will be a Swiss Polka Band for your augmented drinking pleasures. Please plan now for an early attendance. Kegs close promply at 2 AM.

Wendy I am so surprised that the Council would not allow the boys to go on this hike. Isn't their motto "BE PEPARED"? What GREATER way to prepare them for the future then to allow them to experience an ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME. Not every day do we get this chance to Hike on I-75 with all the construction obstacles, speeding cars, and road rage. They will also miss the chance to be with RESPONSIBLE ADULTS to show them the way. Well maybe next year!

Someone mentioned WAFFLES? I can tell you from experience, 69 people are never going to get seated in a Waffle House! Therefore, I'm bringing my Egg-O Waffles & battery operated toaster. (If anyone's interested in borrowing my toaster, it takes four D-Cell batteries.) I have 4 CPSC approved hard hats that should be acceptable for bicycling, & for bicycling thru the construction zone. To borrow a hard hat, just e-mail [masked]

If anyone wants to join me I'll be starting in cinti, at exit 16, Tuesday morning. We'll hike to exit 26 and setup camp. And yes we will have a campfire. Wednesday we'll hike into Dayton and wait for the group at the Waffle House. No hammocks on this trip. Sorry

Hey Andy... I posted this event on my Facebook and I have several more people that are interested in doing this hike if it could be a shorter distance. With your permission, do you mind if I lead a slower paced 5-mile hike? I could start mine at the Dayton Mall exit and end it at the Waffle House in Franklin. Let me know what you think.

Does anyone have a Minnow Bucket I can borrow so I can dangle my goldfish from the canoe and give him a true outdoor experience? Thanks.

Oh count me in... I hope to finish the entire hike but if I can't make it, I will pick option 3.... Flag down a State Highway Patrolman and hitch a ride back with them. I haven't done that since my college spring break trip to Florida. Well, actually- I talked a Georgia Highway Patrolman to take a ride in my car...

Will the Tri-State Canoe Club have personal flotation devices available that we can borrow? Or does anyone have one available for me to use for that evening? I do not have one.
