Introduction
To hike with others with the same interests and to learn about other places that are great for hiking.
Do you enjoy backpacking or day hiking or both?
I enjoy day hiking and have walked/hiked about 1500 miles in the last several years around all of Dayton and Metro parks, and Miami County. I'm slowly getting gear and want to venture into longer hikes and over-nighters.
What do you enjoy most about backpacking or day hiking?
enjoying nature and the fitness part of it. I would like to learn more survival skills.
Where are your favorite areas for hiking in the Dayton area?
German town Metro is my favorite of the Metro parks. All the metro parks have "their" special parts. I live in Troy and enjoy Bruckner Nature Center for "quickie" hikes. Love the orange trail at the top of Taylorsville Metro Park in Vandalia.
Where are your favorite areas for backpacking or hiking outside of the Dayton area?
My first hike was Hocking Hills during a winter hike with 4,000 other hikers. I did go to Tallulah Falls/Gorge in Georgia last year where Deliverance was filmed( 2nd deepest gorge in U.S.) - that was a great hike and butt kicker
